ENC loves Linux! This robust operating system can work well for many computer users. If you have a Windows computer your hardware is more than likely ready to have Linux installed. Linux comes in many flavors or distributions as they are called. My favorite is Ubuntu. Ubuntu is an African word that means “humanity to others”, a far cry from the feeling I get from some of the computer manufacturers and software vendors I have encountered.

The most common application I provide using Linux is building servers for clients who have small businesses and want a safe place for their shared data to reside. I have done a few installations for those brave enough to give up their virus-ridden Windows personal computers. Linux is very close to the Mac operating system in the technological underpinnings.
